1. You (as an external consultant and expert in Business Strategy) are required to prepare a maximum of 5 pages report to the management of Hotel Verde, Cape town, in which you, by having regard to the case study material referred to (Youtube video) address the questions set out in 1.1 to 1.5 below. In this case study, you may not update the case study (for example, the effect of a recent merger). You need to analyse the case study purely based on the facts and content given.

1.1 Discuss the approach of Mario and Annemarie Delicios strategic vision for Hotel Verde.

1.2 Evaluate the Hotel Verde principles and explain how they relate to the strategic direction of the organization.

1.3 Analyse the concept of thrivability and how this can be regarded as a strategic tool for a company such as Hotel Verde.

1.4 Review the focus on the importance of people in the strategic approach of Hotel Verde.

1.5 Discuss the factors driving change in the tourism and hospitality industry.[1]

2. Identify a knowledgeable person in the hospitality and tourism industry, (by obtaining his/her informed consent) and execute an MP4 format (audio and video) recorded interview of between 5-7 minutes. The interview should pertain to the impact that Covid 19 had on the hospitality industry, as well as the impact thereof on the (re)-formulation of strategy from 2021 onwards. (just for information, to assist in answering Q3)

3. Include in your report (as per par 1) an addendum of no longer than 6 pages, in which you, through the interrogation of public available resources, and by considering the results of your interview executed in par 2 above, make use of a SWOT analysis and suggest at least four recommendations to the management of Hotel Verde in maintaining or enhancing a competitive advantage.
