Case study: Waterblaster Hire Services Vuvale Waterblasters which provides various water blasters on hire has 10 branches spread throughout major towns and cities in Fiji. Paula Waqa, the owner of the company, knows that to compete with the national chains will require a state-of-the-art online water blaster hire system. You have been asked to develop the system requirements for the new system. Each of the branch has a stock of water blaster for hire. It is important to keep track of each water blaster to know and to identify its category (cold or steam), its type (mains-electric (corded), petrol and cordless (battery-electric)), and other general information such as brand, hire date, cost, and so forth. In addition to tracking each water blaster, the business must track individual water blasters to note its purchase date, its condition, and its hire status. User functions must be provided to maintain this inventory information. Customers, who are all-important to the business, are also tracked. Vuvale Waterblasters considers each family to be a customer, so special mailings and promotions are offered to each household. For any given customer, several people may be authorized to hire water blasters. The system sends an email to the customer giving login details to be used to login to the web site following a successful registration. Each time a water blaster is hired, the system must keep track of the various water blasters which are hired; the hire date and time and the return date and time; and the household and person hiring the water blaster. Each hire is considered to be open until all of the water blasters have been returned. Customers pay for the hire when checking out water blasters at the store. The system should also allow visitors (potential customers) to the web site to browse for water blasters. Registered customers can also reserve water blasters online. The staff should be notified via the system about the reservation. For registration, the customer has to contact the staff of Vuvale Waterblasters. The customer is not allowed to register online.
