You are hired by a new start-up company in Australia to bring a creative idea into existence by creating a student domestic air travelling portal as a full-stack website developer and by working on a web application that aims to provide a FOCUSED platform for university students to discounted flight offers only (may include accommodation as package) via their website. Students normally have limited financial capacity to travel, hence, most are looking for a student discounts on the such offers so that they could get similar opportunity to revitalise themselves from fully packed semester. However, there have not been many platforms available for students to find such facilitates. Therefore, the company is looking for a creative development in this area and your website will fill in the gap in the market.

The advertisers are the travel agents who shall be able to post promotions on the website. They will provide details of the offers available on discount or sold out, including:

at least one and at most ten pictures to support the ad;

a description of the ad;

the date from when the offer is available;

other information you and your development team deem necessary,

implementation of novel ideas - (besides booking flights with/without accommodation) to encourage and facilitate students to use the uniquely attractive website.

The sales team may "save" the advertisement, and continue to edit it the next time they log in. They may edit the advertisement as many times as they desire until they submit that advertisement for review. Once they have submitted the advertisement, the advertisement status will change to "under review" and is no longer available for the sales team to edit.

Once the sales team submits an advertisement, the advertisement will be submitted to a moderator for review and verification. Once a moderator logs into the website, they will see a list of offer advertisements to be reviewed. The moderator will review the description and verify the details of the offer. The moderator may choose to "approve" or "reject" the advertisement. If the moderator chooses to reject an advertisement, they must provide feedback and reasons as to why the advertisement is rejected.

If the advertisement is rejected by the moderator, the sales team shall receive an email notification stating that their advertisement has been rejected, and the reason why it has been rejected. The sales team may choose to log into the website and continue to edit the advertisement and submit for review and verification again.

If the advertisement is approved by the moderator, the advertiser shall receive an email notification stating their advertisement has been approved and is now visible by the public. Only approved advertisements are visible by the public, that is, an advertisement is hidden from the public until it is approved. The advertiser may log into the website to view statistics about their posts, including, for example, how many people viewed their advertisement.

The sales team may choose to edit approved advertisement. However, editing an advertisement will make it hidden from the public until it is submitted to and approved by the moderator. The sales team may also choose to delete approved advertisement. Once an advertisement isdeleted, it will no longer be visible to the public.

Students may view the lists of offers available on discount. They also have the option to order the search results price or by the date of the advertisement.

Students may make enquires about a particular offer on the website, and their enquiry is visible by the public. The advertiser will receive an email stating that an enquiry has been made on the website and they may log into the website to reply to that enquiry. Sales team's reply will also be visible by the public.

Students may also choose to send the sales team a direct message, an email-like function on the website. The advertiser may view and reply to students' direct messages from the website. Students may also flag an offer as a favourite. They may view a collection of favourite offers when they log into the website.

Once an offer is expired and/or are not being considered for extension, the sales team may close the advertisement. Closed advertisement is not visible to the public. However, sales team may"open" the advertisement so that it becomes visible to the public.

Students should be able to register an account with their email address. The website also provide authentication through open ID, that is, students mayregister and log into the website using their Facebook, Google or Twitter account. The company management requires the website to generate reports, including but not limited to:

total number of users;

number of active users in a particular month; active users are defined as users who

log into the website at least five times per month;

number of new users in a particular month;

total number of advertisements;

number of new advertisements created for a particular month;

any other meaningful reports you and your development team deem necessary.

The website should also be robust and not tolerate user's incorrect inputs, for example, the offer price must be a positive number.

Using the information provided in the case study, your common sense and your experience with similar websites, list at least two functional requirements for each user you identified in the previous task.

Task 4 (25%)

Describe the application of the three-layer architecture (presentation layer, business logic layer, and data persistence layer) for the website in the case study. Give specific examples for each layer. Discuss the relationship between client-server architecture and three-layer architecture, and answer which layer(s) of the three-layer architecture is/are on the client side and which on the server side.

Task 5 (36%)

Draw a website prototype for the website in the case study. You must NOT use HTML/CSS/JavaScript to build a website at this stage. You must draw the prototype on sheets of paper. The website prototype must comprehensively include all the functional requirements described in the case study as well as the requirements you identified in Task 1 and 2 for each user that was either described in the case study or identified by you in Task 3.1.
