Choose a company to make a recommendation to. This company can be any actual existing company, but should not be a fictional one. It must be real because you will need to research the company.
Choose an idea to evaluate for this company. Whatever idea you choose it MUST be one the company does not currently use. Some possible ideas include:
- A sustainable energy source, product or policy for the company to use.
- A new marketing strategy for a demographic the company does not currently target.
- A social media platform or technology for the company to use.
- A new business model or strategy, such as drop shipping.
- Your own idea (check with the facilitator first!)
Based on your research, decide what your recommendation will be. Is the idea a good fit for this company? Your answer does not have to be yes. If the idea seems good, then recommend it. If the research suggests that the idea is a bad fit for the company, then your recommendation will be to not pursue the idea.
Conduct a report based on your research, findings and recommendation. The report should be written in 12 pt in a professional looking font. written in analytical, formal, and indirect report. You have to convince your audience (the board and/or CEO of the company you have researched) to follow your recommendation, so be specific about costs, savings, and benefits. Include an appendix with relevant supplementary information that supports your recommendation. Document your sources (at least three) The parts of your report should be as follows:
- title p@ge
- Table of Contents
- List of Figures and Tables
- Introduction and Purpose
- Findings
- Analysis
- Recommendations
- References
- Appendices
My research information of the company. feel free to add if you think I have missed anything crucial in my wording. All that I need help with is the report.
Research Report and Presentation Part 1
The company I choose to make a recommendation to is Circle K. The Idea I recommend for Circle K would be introducing a subscription pass for their locations with car washes. Circle K's biggest competitor for car washes would be Petro Canada because they have a subscription pass for unlimited car washes for a certain fee.
With a little bit of research, we can see that for 5 of Petro Canada's best car washes, it's 65$ and for 4 of Circle K's best car washes it's 50$. Now this is where Petro Canada comes in as a competitor, Petro has a option where you can buy a season pass card that comes with up to 30 - 365 days of unlimited washes whereas Circle K does not have that option yet. As of right now it's been about 5 years since Mac's has acquired Esso which is now both named to Circle K which means maybe the option for a car wash season pass is in the making but not their priority.
Based on my research I find that my idea for the introduction of a season pass to car washes would be both beneficial for Circle K and potential customers who may not like Petro Canada's touch car washes as the cause swirl marks and scratches on the paint of the cars.
