For Optional Opinion Piece on Stereotypes - this will result in a second mark, separate from
the analytical paragraph, in my grade book. If you do poorly on this paragraph, it will still be
counted.
Due: Tuesday, February 27th,2024
Task: For this task you will write a Claim, Evidence, Commentary (C-E-C) analytical paragraph
discussing one of the 8 texts from this "Short Works" unit, relating that to one of the key elements
of literature that have been discussed in grade 9 and 10 English.
You may also optionally, in addition to your C-E-C, write a supplementary opinion paragraph; this
paragraph, unlike your C-E-C, can use personal pronouns, second person pronouns, contractions,
and colloquialisms. This paragraph will discuss what stereotypes and biases you know exist
towards Indigenous Canadians, and perspectives you think might exist toward this course, and
a reflection on your own biases and learning so far.

den", 3. "Upside Down and Backwards", 4. "Silent,5. "After 'While", 6. "Call me Ka'nhehs:io:
Why I'm reclaiming my Kanien'kha name" 7. "I Lost My Talk", or 8. "A Mountain Legend"

Character Development, Theme, or Conflict. You could also choose to discuss stylistic concepts
like the use of Imagery, foreshadowing OR suspense building, or Elements of Characterization.
STEP 3: Plan. Plan what you are going to write by creating a chart like the one below. You must
include the short works as a source, but you can also select up to two other reputable sources to
support your point
STEP 4: Create a Works Cited Page at the bottom of your paragraph. Use only The Purdue
University MLA style guide as a citation guide to help you. Or Garcia's Simplified Guide.
