COL 105- Freshman Seminar- Service Agency Research Project The Service Agency Research Project will provide an opportunity to examine resources in the community, identify areas of need, and explore the economic impact of these organizations. Students are encouraged to select agencies/organizations that align with their own career interests, personal skills, and/or issues about which they feel strongly. Directions 1. Conduct Research a. Choose a service agencyon-profit organization to research. b. Research the agency/organization and identify the following: " Founder of the organization and his/her background Founder Information History of the organization NAACP History What is the organization's mission and purpose? What need does it serve? Find statistics and information about this need in the community. Is this need decreasing or increasing? Statistics/Information about need What is the economic impact of the agency/organization? Econ. Impact c. Now consider your own strengths from CliftonStrengths for Students. How would you put these Strengths to use within this organization, if you decided to serve? d. Not sure where to start your research? The following resources are good places to start: Hands on Greenville lists agencies/organizations in the Greenville community; 211 Get Connected is a national resource that connects people to help in their communities. The National Council of Nonprofits is a national organization that non-profits organizations can join. 2. Create a PowerPoint Presentation a. Create a Powerpoint presentation with a minimum of 12 slides (but you may have more): a title slide, a reference slide, and ten content slides
