COMM 4000 ASSIGNMENT: Developing a Training Plan
I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction with this project as I am overwhelmed. This is the first part of the assignment (for a 30 minute virtual webinar, which will also include a facilitator's guide, a training manual, and a training proposal to market the training).
This assignment:
1. Assume you are interviewing for a training position with the author(s) and publisher of the business best seller "The Power of Moments." Part of the interview consists of being grouped with three other applicants to design a half-hour virtual training demo about the book. 2. Work with your co-trainers to craft a training event designed around the book's primary message to readers, and use that central core to build content, activities, videos, exerciseswhatever you believe will be useful to your trainees. (The best seller, Crucial Conversations, now has an entire training business to go with it called Vital Smarts, and people actually get training jobs to promote the book.) 3. What A, B, C goals (affective, behavioral, and cognitive-"the domains of learning") will you focus on for your training? What do you want your trainees to feel, do, and understand or know as a result? Affective: Behavioral: Cognitive: 4. Design an agenda for your half-hour training event that includes four categories: content; activities/exercises; other training methods; and time. Describe, in increments of time, how you will conduct the training (make sure your plans are feasible). *Assume the majority of the trainees are kinesthetic learners when planning your training and activities. In addition to activities, find a creative way to ask for feedback (search training assessment tools/training critique sheet).
Your planning should include all of the eight steps in Beebe's model: The Needs-Centered Training Model Focusing on trainee needs drives every step of designing and delivering a training presentation.
1 analyze the training task
2 develop training objectives
3 organize training content
4 determine training methods
5 select training resources
6 complete training plans
7 deliver training
8 assess training *"Analyze organizational/trainee Needs" is at its center; this centrality suggests that every step or process of designing and presenting a training program revolves around assessing learning needs.
