Your community is concerned about the levels of criminal activity. The problem can be divided into two issues.yh

First, the local police station is disconnected from the community and appears uninterested in addressing systemic criminal activity in the area.

Second, the local policing function appears under$-$resourced to comply with its mandate.

The more your community has examined the problem, the more it has become clear that a new framework is needed to ensure that police services in the area are effective.

However, the policy framework is determined at a national level and not at the level of your community, municipality or province.

Your community has, therefore, decided that it must influence the national policy framework to ensure that local policing is accountable to the immediate community served.

Before embarking on the attempt to influence the policy process, the community has charged you with the task of analysis what needs to be done.

Assignment

Your task is to provide a briefing document to your community outlining the factors that need to be considered to achieve success in influencing the policy framework for policing. In doing so$,$ this note should consider where and how to enter the policy cycle for influencing the policy framework and the possible influences of stakeholders and role$-$players involved. The note should provide a realistic assessment of the opportunities for changing national policy to suit your local needs.
