Copyright law is geared towards rewarding sole authors labouring in isolation to produce works of their 'own intellectual creation'. As such, it is ill-equipped to adequately deal with more communal modes of creative production. This is particularly so in music, for example, where the creation of works is often collaborative and informal.'
