Service Centre policy and procedure

a. For each child enrolled at a service, the

parents/guardians should include details on the child'shealth and provide any medical management plan onhealth needs such as anaphylaxis, diabetes, asthma, orany condition that requires focus on risk minimisationplan and both should be readily available at theservice.

b. The approved provider must ensure written policiesand procedures are in place in relation to health andsafety, and wellbeing

c. If there is an occurrence of an infectious diseaseoutbreak at an education and care service, theapproved provider must ensure that reasonable stepsare taken to prevent the spread of the infectiousdisease at the service

d. The approved provider of and education and careservice must ensure that a parent of a child beingcared for by the service is immediately contacted if thechild is involved in any incident injury, trauma, orillness while the child is being cared for by the service.

e. The approved provider of an education and careservice must ensure that medication is not

administered to a child being cared for by the serviceunless that administration is authorised.

f. The approved provider of an education and careservice must ensure that the emergency andevacuation procedures are rehearsed every threemonths by staff members, volunteers and childrenpresent at the service on the day of rehearsal and theresponsible person in relation to the service who ispresent at the time of the rehearsal.

g. The approved provider and the nominatedsupervisor must make sure that a child being cared for

by the service does not leave the premises exceptwhere the child is given in the care of a parent, anauthorised nominee named in the child's enrolmentrecord, or a person authorised by a parent orauthorised nominee.

In the case of being picked up from excursions thismust be organised prior to the event with parents andall relevant documentation must be filled in and takento the excursion prior to releasing the child.

h. The approved provider of a centre based servicemust ensure that the following qualified people are atall times in attendance at any place children are beingeducated and cared for by the service and

immediately in an emergency; at least one staffmember or one nominated supervisor of the servicewho has undertaken current approved emergencyasthma management training, other educators will beon hand to assist where required, but are unable totake lead in the health and safety role without theirtraining being current.

i. An approved provider or nominated supervisor mustensure that a child is not transported unless writtenauthorisation has been given.
