Despite the challenges of having an orthopedic impairment Stacey is doing exceptionally well in school. She is making strong progress in her courses and she has positive social interactions with her teachers and other students. Other than requiring some reasonable accommodations related to access to facilities and transportation she requires no special education or related services. School officials are providing Stacey with the required reasonable accommodations under a 504 plan, but Stacey's parents (P) believe an IDEA plan would better meet Stacey's needs. They feel very strongly about this and threaten to sue the school (D) if Stacey's needs are not met under an IDEA plan which they firmly believe is in her best interests.
