Develop and submit a personal leadership philosophy that reflects what you think are characteristics of a good leader. Use the scholarly resources on leadership you selected to support your philosophy statement. Your personal leadership philosophy should include the following:

  • A description of your core values.
  • A personal mission and vision statement.
  • An analysis of your CliftonStrengths Assessment summarizing the results of your profile
  • A description of two key behaviors that you wish to strengthen.
  • A development plan that explains how you plan to improve upon the two key behaviors you selected and an explanation of how you plan to achieve your personal vision. Be specific and provide examples.
  • Be sure to incorporate your colleagues' feedback on your CliftonStrengths Assessment from this Module's Discussion 2.

Below is my strengths from CliftonStrengths assessment

After taking the Clifton Strenghtfinder assessment, my top 5 trademark themes for my strengths are the Relator, Responsibility, Positivity, Individualization and Futuristic. A review of the knowledge and skills you have acquired can provide a basic sense of your abilities, but an awareness and understanding of your natural talents will provide true insight into the core reasons behind your consistent successes (Gallup, 2023). Three of my strengths evolve relationship building, and the other two focus on executing and strategic thinking. Roth, 2007 explains that the strength finder assessment "essentially the instrument is attempting to identify your most intense natural responses which are less likely to change over time ". As the Relator, my friends frequently come to me to try out ideas or voice their opinions. As I like having intimate bonds with other people. I am able to teach, train or offer advice to others who come to me for help because of my skills. Responsibility involves individuals that assume cognitive accountability for their promises. This theme defines me as dedicated to enduring principles like loyalty and honesty. Individualization as a theme shows an understanding that each person is different. The individual comprehends why people with carious backgrounds collaborate successfully. Persons that are considered very talented in positivity typically exhibit and infectious energy. They're able to enthuse people about what they are about to undertake since they are positive and enthusiastic. And finally those with a specific knack for futuristic themes are motivated by what could happen in the future. These individuals can motivate people with their futuristic ideas.

Two core values that I would like to improve would be my commitment to maintaining a healthy work-life balance and resilience. I want to be more disciplined in managing the demands of job, education, and family life. Being a resilient leader means remaining calm and focused on goals rather than being distracted by negativity or disruption. As a resilient nurse leader, you'll project a positive outlook that will help others maintain the emotional strength they need to commit to a shared vision, and the courage to move forward and overcome setbacks (Shaft, 2023). Being a resilient leader that is able to adapt to new circumstances, changing situations or restrictions can help aid in increasing functionality. As Broome and Marshall states, multiple approaches can be used to prevent these adverse outcomes and create safe environments, one of the primary ways healthcare leaders appear to be doing this work is by building individual resiliency among the workforce through engagement and wellness initiatives (2021).

Based on the Strenghtfinder evaluation, two strengths that would like to apply more to my life are Maximizer and Focused. Individuals with this competence may not only create objectives, but also prioritize those goals, I can make objectives, but organizing them by priority might save me time and errors. As a Maximizer, I frequently motivate everyone to work as a team and can sometimes struggle to find specific individuals who thrive or groups of people who may succeed together to maximize the potential of the organization. This strength would help to strive for greatness and inspire others to do the same.

Two leadership characteristics that I would aim to improve is optimism and emotional intelligence. Although not all nurses enter the profession with the purpose of becoming leaders, strong nursing leaders are required for the vision of healthcare improvement to be fulfilled. Being an optimistic nurse leader will allow me to stay on task ad motivated towards achieving my goals despite any unexpected events. Effective communication requires emotional intelligence. Emotionally intelligent nurse leaders are more aware of their own and others' psychological health and wellness, and that have a keen ability to manage and resolve problems.
