The issue of loss of privacy in the cyberspace is a new cyberethical issue, and cannot be equated to privacy issues from past technological innovations. In the cyberspace, the sheer volume of private data collected and stored cannot be compared to the loss of privacy from past technological innovations from the invention of the camera, telephone, etc. With these past technological advances, a person could still keep his/her/their privacy by simply avoiding using the piece of technology. However, in the new internet world, everyone, regardless of whether a person actively uses the internet, has some portion of his/her/their data in some server. Personal data is a very important commodity, and there should be an opportunity for people everywhere to control or at least see how much of his/her/their data is being collected.
