53 Managing Employee Relations You are the HR Manager of ABC. John's supervisor Amara asked to meet with you as she has concerns about her employee. Amara emails you some of the issues she is concerned about. She says that lately, she is concerned with John's performance. The quality of his work is declining and he is missing important deadlines. He is reporting to work late and on a regular basis and is calling in sick more than usual. John's coworkers are also complaining that he isn't doing his fair share of the work and isn't very pleasant to work with lately and can sometimes be rude. You have a look at John's employee file and it confirms what you know about him. He is a good employee. He has been with ABC for about five (5) years now. He gets his work in on time, works well with his coworkers, stays late when needed to get work done. He shows initiative in picking up new projects and even offers to take on extra work to help others in his department so everyone can keep up. He gets good performance reviews and there is nothing in his employee file to indicate there are any performance problems. You wonder what is going on. You start to prepare for the meeting with Amara and how to guide her on her next steps. Now that you looked at John's employee file, your next step is to review the Five Key Dimensions of Employee Relations you learned about in your Intro to HR class. These dimensions will help you as you prepare to discuss this with Amara. Part 1 - Prepare a discussion post that includes what you would ask, and what you would tell Amara when you meet with her. Your post should be approximately 100-150 words. Part 2 - You must comment on one other student's post. Your reply should be approximately 50 - 100 words and must continue the conversation
