Dissertation Topic Assignment: CLO 1, CLO 6

Over the next 16 weeks you will choose a topic, and refine it into a research topic. This will begin your research proposal. In this course, you will be finding and developing the research that will lead you to your final dissertation proposal. The decisions you make in this activity and the ones that follow in this course should culminate in the foundation of your dissertation. You do not have to select a dissertation topic at this time,however, if you do have an idea of what you would like to focus on, then it would be wise to use this course to plan, review and get ahead.

The proposal that you create during this course, will adapt and become more complex as you continue to read, question, learn, and revise during your program. The goal for your research is to find the gap or problem space in the literature through extensive reading. This is the time to use your academic skills. For this assignment, you will select a problem background in business literature on which to build your study.

To begin, scan through LIRN (access through GAP) and read scholarly articles on topics that you find interesting in the field of business. If you have selected a DBA concentration, we recommend that you read articles that are closely related to that concentration. .. Select five (5) articles, published within the past 3-5 years, that are closely related to your field of interest and answer the following questions in a three to five pages response:

What is your topic of focus? Explain why you find this topic interesting in the field of business.

What is the brief history of the problem? This consists of a summary and results of prior research articles..

A gap in literature is a topic or area which has missing or inadequate information to draw a conclusion. Review the 5 articles used for this assignment and identify one or more gaps. To best identify a gap, ask yourself this question; what or why did the research not address this issue or concern in this topic? Then, write a clear statement of what needs to be addressed by identifying the key motivating issue or question and identify key terms associated with the issue.

Finally, the learner needs to demonstrate why this proposed study is needed for academic research. Explain why it will expand academic literature, contribute to society, or the professional environment? Who is the intended audience for this research?

Note: Provide a sample topic and sample answer considering specialization in Business intelligence and Data Analytics select a sample topic that is related to Data Analytics. This would play a significant role in the outcome of future research. So, be sure to find a topic that is related to the course Data Analytics for Executives.
