Diversity is more than a "hot topic" in society. It is a deep and powerful intergenerational experience that can have severe and significant impacts on the felt sense of self and safety of clients and systems. Having a sense of our personal reactions to diverse ways of thinking, acting, and interacting can assist us to be better clinicians. In the past, diversity has focused solely on the dissimilarities that are easy to see, but we know that there are deeper levels of diversity that we need to be aware of and open to within the clinical setting. Consider aspects of diversity that are both easy to see (gender, race, age) and those that are less visible (political views, religion, parenting choices, SES, education) and consider how you open yourself up to the diversity of your clients. Implicit biases are stubborn but awareness and open dialogue can be useful to reduce the impact of these biases. Please answer at least two questions:

• How do you remain open and welcoming to the diversity of your clients?
• What do you do when faced with a diversity that makes you feel uncomfortable?
• What do you do when faced with a diversity that goes against your morality or moral code?
• Is diversity ever a reason to transfer a client to another clinician?
• What role does curiosity play in your interactions with those who are different than you in some way?
• How could supervision support your process with increasing your comfort levels with diversity?
• Are there differences that you feel you continue to need to work to increase your comfort level in regard to acceptance of diversity in people?
