DO YOU AGREE WITH THIS SCENARIO
I have to say, its been a long time since I have given any thought to my own writing process. I am looking forward to learning a lot about writing processes and developing better writing habits for myself.
I definitely relate to Ernest Hemingway and apply his first rule of applying the seat of my pants to the seat of my chair. Along with doing that, I do like to have a coffee within arm's reach as well.
When I do have to write something (which isn't often), I like to make rough notes on paper before typing. I love the feeling of truly putting pen to paper and seeing what ideas flow. Typically, I change words, scribble and move things around quite a bit until I come up with something that I think is satisfactory. I definitely do not relate to Marcel Proust, as I cannot write in complete silence. I prefer to have the ambient noise of music - usually country, playing quietly in the background.
I do like a bit of noise in the background, but I prefer to write when there are not too many distractions present (kids & husband) or else I find myself becoming very distracted and losing track of my thoughts.
Like Alain-Rene Lesage, I like to write in the middle of the day (not like I am doing now). I find that late at night like Lord Byron does not work for me. Once the day is over and the kids are in bed, I too am ready to call it a day.
I am looking forward to reading about everyone's writing processes and learning how I can become a better writer myself!
