As a Project Manager it is good to have some level of background on tools that are on the market and where they are used. If you are ever involved in choosing a tool for use you can have some insight into what is available and where to use the tools. This may also come in handy if you interview for a company and they mention a tool that is not Microsoft Project, t could be one of these or another you may have investigated.
