Analyse the documentary film, The Corporation: Pathological Pursuit of Profit and Power, and to make recommendations to the President of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce or the Canadian Council of Chief Executives about how they should respond. An analysis of the film which could include the following: What social and/or ethical issues are portrayed in the movie? Did the film accurately depict how business operates? Does business get a bad rap in this movie? Is the "evil-doer" either a business executive or a large, menacing corporation? Did the selection of actors enhance or diminish the reputation of businesspersons? Are any of business's "good deeds" portrayed in this movie? Does the treatment of business reflect society's lack of trust in business and its leaders? Does the content of movies simply "mirror the times," or the attitudes held towards business? Why do the negative depictions of business continue even with modern management styles that favour more participation by managers as coaches and mentors rather than as dictators? Are filmmakers more liberal or radical and thus critical of the culture in which business works? 3. An assessment of the importance or influence of the film. Give your rationale. A couple of questions that can be considered are: Will the treatment of business in this movie influence attitudes towards the business system (that is, capitalism)? Do movies influence the attitudes of Canadians towards business (capitalism) and its leaders? 4. A list of recommendations to the President including suggestions as to how they would be implemented.
