Johan is a final year student majoring in business at Universiti Utara Malaysia. To supplement his family's income, Johan works at Inway International, a factory that produces cosmetic products for international market. Recently, Johan applied to join the Inway International Workers Association (PPII). However, his application was rejected by Salleh, the Chairman of PPII on the ground that Johan is not eligible to join a trade union as he is a student of a higher education institution.

At the same time, Salleh is feeling stressed because his application for promotion was rejected five (5) times in a row by Karim, the owner of Inway International, while his colleagues had been promoted. Karim deliberately did so because he does not agree with Salleh's appointment as PPII Chairman and alleges that Salleh's action of buying a shop house to be used as PPII office using money collected from PPII members was illegal.
