Environmental degradation is changing ecosystems around the world. Subsistent farmers depends on ecosystems. When ecosystems change, those farmers can no longer continue with their traditional ways of life. This often leads to migration into cities which are ill-prepared for them, thus they end up in slums. What does it mean by the phrase, cities are "ill-prepared" for these farmers?
