Problem 3. ( 20 points) A series of three well-mixed settling tanks is used for settling solid particles (impurities) from brine that is being fed into a process. Under normal steady-state operation, brine (containing 20% salt by mass) is entering and exiting each tank at the flow rate of 10kg/min. The three tanks contain 1000kg brine each, with 20% salt by mass. At a particular time (t=0), an additional valve is opened through which pure water flows into the first tank at the rate of 10 kg/min. (a) Write the total mass balance and the component mass balance of salt with respect to each of Tank 1,2 , and 3 . (b) Solve Tank 1 at first. What are the amount of salt and the percent of salt in the tank after one hour? (Note: use the trapezoid method by the user defined function, not the trapz function) Plot i) amount of salt in the tank as a function of time and ii) percent of salt in the tank as a function of time. (c) Now solve Tank 1, 2, and 3 simultaneously using the ode 23 function. Create two plots: i) amount of salt in each of Tank 1, 2, and 3 as a function of time up to one hour, and ii) percent of salt in each of Tank 1, 2, and 3 as a function of time up to one hour. What are the amount of salt and the percent of the salt in the outlet stream of each tank after one hour
