Goal 1 Critique:

Goal 1 is specific to one disease and care interventions. This can lead to an effective, yet narrow window of improvement interventions in patient care practices (Spath & Kelly). This goal meets an implicit outcome understanding for stated interventions (Spath & Kelly, 2017). Multiple criteria can make stated goals unclear and difficult to determine if goal has been met (Spath & Kelly, 2107).

Goal 2:

Each care provider maintains duties that facilitate performance improvements using evidence-based practice indicators to ensure all patients receive appropriate care measures as required by CMS services in a timely manner to include treatment and medication administration, complete and appropriate documentation of interventions in accordance with federal and state requirements that include disease-specific counseling, treatment, and discharge care instructions to prevent readmission.

Goal 2 Critique:

Goal 2 is setup in the SMART goal format: this statement is clear and generalized. This allows for precise, and easy to follow (Spath & Kelly, 2017). The format can be implemented throughout the entire organization. Conversely, a generalized statement can leave greater room for individual interpretation which can be subject to mental models.
