Falls are a common and complex problem affecting older adults that can cause considerable morbidity, functional decline, and mortality. A prospective, randomized study (named NMF!) was designed to evaluate a multifaceted fall prevention intervention program.A program provided participants in the intervention group with information about identifying and reducing hazards in the home; aid with minor purchases of safety enhancing products or repairs to reduce the risk of falls in the home; a written individualized care plan with fall prevention goals based on the risk factor assessment, supplemental educational materials, and information about local resources; fall occurrence tracking methods to assist them in reaching their goals.
