Film: Prelinger Archives: Duck and Cover (1951)

Throughout the semester, we will be using videos/films provided by "Films on Demand. This week we will watch a 1951 government film about "Duck and Cover. (The film is 9 minutes long). Please see the instructions to view the film below.

According to the film description the implicit message of "duck and cover" is that: "nuclear war with the Soviet Union was both unavoidable and survivable. Do you agree that this was the message of the film? Do you think that following the instructions of the video would really help most children during a nuclear attack? Are there perhaps alternative motives (besides safety) for this film? What did this film demonstrate (or teach you) about American culture in the 1950s?
