First, you must describe the topic that you chose from class in sufficient detail. This will help you learn and remember the topic better for the tests. You will lose points if anything you write is not accurate, or if you have only given a very general description of the topic.

Topics you may choose from include: false memories, flashbulb memories, childhood/infantile amnesia, visual object agnosia, prosopagnosia, wernicke's aphasia, broca's aphasia, own-race bias, inattentional blindness, or weapon focus effect?

The second section is where you will relate the topic from class to a non-academic article that you chose. You must make clear and coherent connections between the topic and the article. Explain how they are related, or how you thought about the article differently because of the topic, or whatever novel thoughts or connections you have made as a result of learning about this topic. You will lose points for simply describing the article or for not making a logical connection. The article that you choose cannot be academic (e.g.,, not a research article). I have had students pick topics about music, sports, politics, current events, history, religion, culture, social justice, and many other topics, so feel free to pick any article that is interesting to you. It is important that you make a clear and logical connection between the article and the topic that you chose from class. DO NOT pick articles that are "how-to" articles, articles that simply define the topic (anything from about.com or wikipedia), or a scholarly academic journal article. DO pick articles from reputable news organizations such as ABC, NBC, CBS, NYT, Huffpost, CNN, or other legitimate news sources).
