1) When it comes to leadership, a person's ethics and values play a crucial role in how they model the way. Leaders who model the way effectively do so by being authentic and transparent in their actions and behaviors. This means that they consistently uphold and demonstrate their personal and organizational values, and that they are guided by a strong ethical code. The impact of ethics and values on decision-making practices is significant. Leaders who have a clear set of ethics and values are better equipped to make difficult decisions that align with those values. They are less likely to compromise their principles, even in challenging situations, and they can communicate their decisions and actions with clarity and confidence. When it comes to modeling the way as an authentic, servant, or transformational leader in a situation where your values are challenged, each approach has its own unique set of characteristics and strategies. An authentic leader might respond by being honest and transparent about their beliefs and values, while seeking to understand the perspectives of others. They would prioritize building trust with their team and working collaboratively to find a solution that aligns with their values. A servant leader might focus on understanding the needs and concerns of others, and work to serve the common good. They would prioritize listening to the perspectives of others and seeking to find a solution that is in the best interest of everyone involved. A transformational leader might seek to inspire and motivate their team to achieve a common goal that is aligned with their values. They would focus on building a shared vision and inspiring others to work towards that vision with passion and commitment. 2) Ethics and values create the framework for which a leader aligns their moral compass. A leader will course correct if the voyage is off path. These are the building blocks of fundamental leadership characteristics. Values and beliefs are unique to the individual leader based on personal traits, past experiences, teach and train moments, and what a leader perceives as acting with integrity. For a leader to market their brand of leadership style, a leader must be a paradigm within the organization. A leader's behaviors, actions, and decisions must represent the organization's culture and overall mission statement. This all reverts back to leading by example. I use experiences or opportunities from both my personal and professional life and use these life lessons interchangeably. I feel as a leader and a father I have developed patience, empathy, and understanding. Especially, having a military background, where yelling and screaming are considered motivation. I have learned that if I cannot explain something in terms a child can understand, then I cannot explain it to an adult. Therefore, I have learned to implement marginal change to adjust my approach to ensure my message is delivered properly. I find myself identifying with an authentic leadership, because I like to build another individual in what I feel is best for them and the organization. When I recognize a team member that is talented, I like to invest in developing their skills and helping them achieve success. I like the individualized time spent with a single associate to be thorough with their training.
