For your second memo, you will provide an analysis of issues related to the development of a vaccine for covid-19. There are clear requirements by the FDA about the steps a pharmaceutical company must follow before they can sell a drug or vaccine to the public (that is, the life cycle of a drug). The first part of your memo will be to describe this process and the implications for public health from requiring these steps be followed during a pandemic like Covid-19. In the second part of your memo, using concepts and evidence we have covered in class, readings from the syllabus, and other supporting materials, describe whether you think exceptions to the process of developing and distributing a vaccine should be made during the current pandemic, and what would be the implications of these exceptions on public health and stopping the spread of Covid-19. Finally, what role (if any) do you think the government should play in developing the vaccine and distributing it to the public? Be specific about how the government could get involved and the implications of this type of involvement.
