1. A description of the problem, clearly stating the mean you are estimating and the population from which the sample was taken. Also include your best guess as to what the population mean will be.

2. State how the sample was taken.

3. A list of all the sample points and their source (a survey should include the names and addresses or phone numbers of those questioned, if possible). The data may also come from a newspaper or the internet.

4. The computer output for the 95% and 99% confidence intervals.

I will be estimating the mean number of children wanted by students at TCB.

My population is all TCB students. My best guess is 2 children.

The sample was taken by a personal survey. Index cards were distributed to a class in TCB.

The data was gathered by distributing index cards to a TCB BUA1333 class. ID information was not included since the question was very personal.

The p-value is 0.0966.a = 0.05. < p-value. Therefore, you cannot reject H0.This means that the guess of =2 was accurate and could not be rejected.

In part 5, the 95% confidence interval determined that would be between1.884 and 3.297 kids with a probability of 95%. Since 2 is included in that interval, we cannot conclude that is not equal to 2. This conforms with the results in parts 7 and 8 which concluded that we cannot reject that = 2.

  1. Discuss how your results might be of practical use.

The University might be interested in these results to keep track of alumni in 20 years to possibly try to recruit the next generation of students if the family size is large enough. This is a little far-fetched.
