What is the format for writing a statement of the problem? A persuasive statement of problem is usually written in three parts: Part A (The ideal}: Describes a desired goal or ideal situation; explains how things shouid be. Part B (The reality): Describes a condition that prevents the goal, state, or value in Part A from being achieved or realized at this time; explains how the current situation falls short of the goal or ideal. Part C (The consequences}: Identifies the way,r you propose to improve the current situation and move it cioser to the goal or ideal. Dependent Variable It is a Causal Relat The variable that depends on other factors that are measured. These variables are expected to change as a result of an experimental manipulation of the independent variable or variables. It is the presumed effect. Independent Variable The variable that is stable and unaffected by the other variables you are trying to measure. It refers to the condition of an experiment that is systematically manipulated by the investigator. It is the presumed cause.Research objectives The objectives provide an accurate description of the specific actions you will take in order to reach this aim. As with the problem formulation, the overall objective should be framed in a single sentence. Your aims answer the question. 'What are you doing?' The objectives are the answer to the question, 'ch are you doing it?' Research objectives refer to the goals or steps that you will take to achieve your aims. When you write them, make sure they are SMART. 1 .Specic: talk in a precise and clear way about what you are going to do 2.Measurable: how will you know when you have achieved your aim? 3.Achievable: make sure that you aren't overly ambitious. 4.Realistic: recognize the time and resource constraints that come with doing a PhD and don't attempt to do too much. 5.Time constrained: determine when each objective needs to be completed
