Grammar changes over time. If it didn't, we'd all be talking like Shakespeare. In fact, the English language now has over five times the number of words as it did in Shakespeare's day. Although change is inevitable, the pace of change has increased exponentially with the advent of computer technology. Of particular concern to grammarians are texting, social media and instant messages. So the question is: should we ditch the formality in business situations and just go totally casual? Is "formal" English "business like" or just a waste of time?
