Harry forms a plan to murder a local scientist, Sally. Sally works in a research laboratory undertaking medical research on animal subjects. Harry watches Sally's lab and waits until all her colleagues have left for a day. He puts on large sunglasses to disguise his identity and as soon as Sally is alone in the lab, Harry sneaks past security and goes into the lab. He sees that Sally has fallen asleep behind her desk. Harry takes out a knife and stabs Sally in the back several times. However, pathologist evidence establishes that Sally has died from a heart attack before Harry stabbed her. Harry is charged with attempted murder. Harry claims that he could not possibly be guilty since he was effectively stabbing a corpse and it was impossible for him to commit a crime, since Sally was already dead. Harry also suffers from a form of schizophrenia. Harry states that he understood the physical consequences of his actions (i.e. that stabbing with a knife will lead to Sally's death). However, Harry states that he does not feel bad about Sally's death. Harry claims that he killed Sally because she was responsible for the "torture of innocent animals." Harry says that despite society's condemnation of murder, he is not bound by society's norms and lives by his own moral code, in which lives of animals are more important than those of human beings and that it was therefore his duty to kill Sally.

Would Harry's mental disorder enable him to rely on the mental disorder defence (NCRMD defence)? What is the likelihood that Harry will be convicted of attempted murder?
