CASE: Ali Sayed, the manager of Toronto Swim, is trying to decide what strategies to use to increase profits. Toronto Swim is an indoor swimming pool open for recreational swim all year long. It's a 25m,10 lane, heated pool. In addition to lanes it has a small childsized pool attached, a diving board and a slide. In the same building is a gym with a full suite of workout equipment, in-door racquetball courts and a basketball court. It is the only indoor swimming pool in North York that is open for rec swim throughout the day. The city's recreation department operates many pools, indoors and out, but they often have swimming lessons, lane swim, etc., so rec swim hours are limited. The rec swim program is more than breaking evenbut this is about all Ali can expect if he only offers this option To try to increase his profits, Ali is trying to expand and improve his offerings. He's heard that lane swimming would be a good option as he can schedule entries and charge more. Unfortunately, just scheduling lane swims doesn't mean people will come. And many people will still associate the pool with rec swim, which tends to attract a lot of children. The Saturday and Sunday afternoons tend to be the busiest-and most profitable-times for the pool. In general, the kids and the families have a good time -and a fairly loyal group comes every Saturday and/or Sunday during the winter season. In the spring and fall, however, attendance drops about in half, depending on how nice the weather is. Weekend evenings are quiet. Ali wonders how he can start to build a lane-swim program that will be appealing to older adults. He's looking for advice on how to make this appealing and how to target an audience of lane swimmers. But above all-he simply wants to increase profits. Rec swimming is working, but it's not bringing in enough to build the business. Please put together a deck that provides advice and a recommendation for Ali. Review the following case and assume the role of consultant. Your task is to make a recommendation to Ali Sayed, the manager of Toronto Swim, to address the imminent business challenge presented in the case. You must develop a business deck using PowerPoint which includes the following: - A descriptive title that gives your intended audience (Ali) a clear understanding of the contents - Executive Summary (succinct and captures the most pertinent facts and recommendation) - Problem Statement (what are you trying resolve) - A situation analysis using the " 5Cs " (Don't just state the facts. Pull out insights/conclusions) (Don't just state the facts. Pull out insights/conclusions) - Identification of alternatives. Give enough detail to understand what you're considering - Evaluation of alternatives framed as closed-ended criteria questions - Recommendation \& rationale - Implementation plan and timeline Your recommendation cannot exceed 12 slides. Marks will be deducted if it is more. For each slide create a meaningful and descriptive heading and be sure that each slide contains all the detail necessary to fully articulate your point. Tell a story! Avoid all unnecessary graphics and use only custom graphics that help you explain your story. The deck should be directed to Ali Sayed. Read the case carefully and construct your slide deck based only on the information contained in the case
