  • Presentation: Your PowerPoint presentation must include all information above. You must also include slide narrations as if you were in a classroom presenting this information. Slide narrations should not include slide bullet point redundancy, but rather conversation of what is included on the slide. PowerPoint has a section under each slide to present this information.
  • PowerPoint slide formatting should follow these guidelines:
    • Limit graphics and use them only as needed.
    • Do not utilize graphics as a background.

OPTION BReverse Engineering the Innovation IncubatorThink of an innovation incubator as any organization that continues to focus on the right processes and activities, and has a keen sense for their future. For this final project, you will choose a highly innovative organization, maybe one that we have read about, and identify how and why they innovate extremely well. Innovationdoesn't necessarily mean they have to be equated with an Apple or Google, however, it does mean that they have spent many years perfecting their craft (e.g., Trader Joe's, Mayo Clinic, IKEA, etc.). Think about all of the finite and subtle processes that have been modified and perfected over the years. You will be required to invest ample time to look into how the company's activities have resulted in growth, including the changes required of its employees over the years. Christensen and Porter both talk about how it is easy to open your doors to outsiders to show them what's underneath the hood, however, it is another thing for you to try and copy it. Not only did GM partner with Toyota at NUMMI, they were provided with the recipe for success. However, plant manager's refused to implement the processes and activities that set them apart. There's something to say about the cultures that allow this to take place. Address the Following

  • Choose a highly innovative company. You are required to get instructor approval for this company. Be sure to email the instructor with this info, and provide the instructor with a list NAMES.
  • Provide details as to why this company is considered innovative.
  • Provide a list of the five most important characteristics that support their innovative nature. Explain why each is important (e.g., Why would risk tolerance, highly effective teams, culture, etc., be important for an innovative organization?)
  • Identify some examples of their innovations and how they relate to the five characteristics mentioned above.
  • Consider ideas from both texts in formulating your answers to these items.
