Math 1350 Project for Week 8 Last Name First Name Objective and Instructions: The purpose of this project is to give you a chance to think about how to use manipulatives and other visual representations to illustrate concepts of fractions. Before starting this project, please be sure to watch the videos on using fraction circles and fraction bars (strips) in the Media Assignments for Sections 6.1 and 6.2 and the videos \"Multiplying Fractions Area Model\" and \"Models to lllustrate Division of Fractions\" from the Media Assignment for Section 6.3. Questions 1 and 2 are warm up questions to get you thinking about visual representations of fractions. In Questions 3 - 6, | ask you to explain how you would answer a specific question about fraction addition or subtraction using manipulatives. | would like you to draw what the problem would look like when you set it up, explain in words how you would move objects around, bring in additional objects, and/or take away objects to achieve the operation you're illustrating (which might be helped by drawing part way pictures) and then to draw what the final answer would be using the manipulatives. Alternately, if you'd like to physically create manipulatives and tape them on the sheet or take pictures and tape the pictures on the sheet, all of that is welcome, too. If you have any difficulties with logistics let me know. Multiplication and division of fractions are harder concepts to illustrate using manipulatives but there are nice visual models that can be drawn or prepared electronically. In Questions 7 through 9, | ask you to use geometric models to illustrate multiplication and division of fractions.
