If you know the name of your company file, you can input the name to the search tool and let the computer look up files which include that name. If you do not know the name of your company data, in the search tool, you can key in *.sai. Then, the computer will look up all files that have the extension of .sai. If the search result comes up with a lot of .saifiles, you can sort them based on the Date modified column, so it will be easier for you to locate the correct one.

After you identify the correct .saifile of your data, you can right click it and select Open file location in the sub menu. Then, a new windows explorer will pop up. It should have both the .saifile and .sajfolder of your data inside, with the data path at the top of the window. If you want to open it, simply open Sage 50 and follow the data path you obtain from the search result, and you will be able to open your data again.

Procedure for opening company data files:

• Log in to Sage 50
• Click 'File', then 'Open' and then 'Open Company Data' which will bring up this screen
• Click on the company name and then OK to open the file folder

Procedure for opening company back-up files:

• Choose where your Sage 50 backup file is located.
• Enter or select the file name for your Sage 50 backup. Sage 50 backup files use the *.ptbfile extension.
• Choose the Sage 50 Backup (*.ptb) type.

Note:This procedure will restore the previous state of your company's data files and customized forms. Unless you choose to restore the backup into a new company, restoring your backup will overwrite and replace your existing company data. Before restoring your company records, you should make a backup of your current company.

To restore your company data using this form, you'll need a Sage 50 backup file. If you backed up your company data with another software or computer, you'll need to exit Sage 50 and restore it using the same process.

The restoration process can take a long time depending on the amount of data. Be patient and refrain from interfering with the operation. You risk corrupting the data if you interrupt the restoration process.
