Hi there,

below is a research report I am working on

"Methodology

Hypothesis

This study aims to determine the relationship between marital status and quality of life. First, the null hypothesis and alternative hypothesis must be addressed. Quality of life does not vary due to marital status, according to the null hypothesis. The alternative hypothesis states that quality of life does differ significantly due to marital status.

Participants

The population initially consists of 2,348 participants. The data obtained is inclusive of survey results obtained between 1972 and 2018. After scrubbing the data to improve the quality of the data utilized, 2,328 participants were selected to be included. Within the initial sample, 16 participants were excluded for indicating "no answer" when asked about their quality of life. Two participants were excluded for responding "no answer" when asked to indicate their marital status. There were 2 additional participants excluded for a response of "don't know" when asked about their quality of life. In order to adequately address the hypothesis stated above, the participants included needed to indicate both marital status at the time of the survey, and their quality of life.

Measures

Archival data, obtained from survey results from "General Social Survey Selection," between 1972 and 2018, was utilized. The quasi-independent variable, or the variable that is pre- existing and cannot be randomly assigned, is marital status. Marital status, a nominal scale of measurement, is a discrete variable, as it is measured in categories. The levels of the independent variable included never married, separated, divorced, widowed, and married. The dependent variable, or the variable being measured in each level or group, is quality of life. Quality of life is an ordinal scale of measurement, which means it conveys only order or rank. More specifically, in this study quality of life included poor, fair, good, very good, and excellent.

Data Analysis

Prior to hypothesis testing, the data was scrubbed to eliminate any participants that provided a response of "no answer" or "don't know." The data was then exported from the Excel spreadsheet to SPSS for analysis. Because of the scales of measurement, marital status and quality of life were each coded. Each has five levels, coded 1,2,3,4,5, which will be used for the outcome variables."

I am consistently getting the following feedback:

"Make sure to include properly formatted output from SPSS to support your results and to provide evidence to me that you did the analysis correctly in SPSS."

"The conclusions of your research study Will need to be based upon your actual results of the analysis."

"You should address two aspects in this section...assumption testing and data analysis."

QUESTION:

can you help me understand what exactly I should be doing in SPSS based on the portion of the research report I have included above? I also cannot figure out what type of testing I should run
