How can I implement the Open Sea Map API in an Android Studio app with Kotlin?

I have been looking at tutorials online, including from the osmdroid github, but these seem outdated or lack information. When I tried the tutorial from the osmdroid github, I got many errors, even though I followed the steps exactly like in the tutorial.
