How to respond to the following DQ answer. Do you agree
Desai (2013) postulates exceling at innovation generates profitbeyond that of competition by propelling the future. To have innovation organizations need to engage their employees to be creative. To be creative one needs to have the "body, mind, and sense...to achieve balanced life, meaning, and deeper inner joy," (Desai, 2013) to achieve this is having flexibility within the organization that brings a work life balance.
When thinking of organizations that personify there is Starbucks. From their app to how the stores have been re-designed to provide a more efficient layout for the baristas to deliver high volume of orders in a timely manner. Starbucks continuously strives for innovation, creativity, and flexibility from its employees.
Another example is Zappos. The online shoe shopping experience that has grown and offers clothing and accessories.Zappos looks at innovative ideas from creative employees that find flexibility in the workspace. From their research workplace behavior fosters "employee innovation." (This Is How Zappos Optimizes Its Campus For Innovation, 2018)
The third example is the organization I work for. While there are many areas in which innovation is cultivated in an organization for 13 departments. My focus is on the Public Transit Department. Leadership's intent to cultivate creativity that fosters innovation begins with having a culture that promotes flexibility. The flexibility have a work life balance and the flexibility to adapt to external and internal stakeholders. It is the work with these stakeholders that innovation is steamed from. The ideas of change to public transit doesn't just come from within. It comes from those who are in consistent use of transit, along with our partners.
Of all the examples provided, Brock (2014) sentiment in how Zappos has taken creativity, flexibility, innovation, and leadership intersects to drive organizational success sums it up perfectly. Brock (2014) promulgates Zappos' success is by imploring a fun creative base through "personal emotional connection" that allows "focus on helping customer and meeting their needs and the sales and the profits flow from that."
