How to respond to the following dq answer in 150 words.

Some of the challenges may be in relation to the mentee thinking they know the best path for their development, specifically as it relates to wanting to skip steps because they think they have a requited skillset or move faster through some of the process to get to the desired result as quickly as possible. This is the usual concern I have when I have worked with mentees over the last few years. Once we create a plan and outline the objectives, it often becomes clear how each step is prioritized. With this in mind, some steps can be faster, based on their needs and how quickly they are gaining the skills they need for the goals.

On the contrary, I have someone that works on the same team with me that transferred from another department that I previously worked with them in. They asked me to mentor them because they knew I understood what they had been doing in the past and that I could translate objectives and processes to them in a manner that would be more comprehensive. In this example, this person does not want to go slower and eliminate steps, they want to slow down and somewhat backtrack. This mentee's goals are "driven by organizational factors"(Margaryan, et al., 2013) and there is a timeline assigned for development that is out of both of our control. The challenge is that I believe they are capable of the tasks that will be forthcoming, although they do not have the confidence in themselves. Another way to work to prioritize goals will be to utilize source two of "the six sources of influence, personal ability" (Grenny, et al., 2013) they will leverage skills to enhance personal ability through competence that will increase confidence.
