For this discussion, l have picked a process at myjob of logging information into a notebook for record keeping. A little background on the process is that we run diesel generators at my work for a certain amount of time and there are requirements for logging certain things during this such as, inspecting the . ' generators before we run them, recording our findings, the reason we are running them, what time we started and stopped them, fuel and oil levels, and numbers from the gauges on the generators while they run. Our current process to input these log requirements is to bring the paper notebook with us to the generators and write down each item into the notebook with the time it was found or completed. This process is not efficient because the notebooks can get lost or ruined, it takes time to go through each notebook to find information, and math must be done manually. The notebooks take up a lot of space and some handwriting is sloppy. Also, log entries are not consistent between employees. i believe this process could be improved with a system that can improve efficiency, accountability, and consistency. Storing information digitally allows data to be sorted and tracked more easily while also allowing specific data to be found with a search tool (Next Process, 2022). Instead of people bringing the notebooks with them to each generator, they will bring a laptop that they will use to digitally make their entries with. This will make entries organized and consistent and will allow employees to find data for each generator more quickly. Data on oil levels, fuel levels, and engine run hours will be calculated automatically, improving decision making and prompting required maintenance. Weekly, monthly, and daily reports could also be easily generated. Below are five functional requirement statements for the system to perform
