I chose Walmart to explore since I shop there a lot for a lot of my shopping needs. Currently, these business activities are in the retail industry, including e-commerce market operations. Also, you can get your groceries at a great deal. The company follows a hierarchical functional business structure that is defined by two features: function-based and hierarchy definition. The hierarchy element deals with the vertical authority and lines of command. For instance, all the workers have their director superior, who makes decisions for implementation. The function-based element relates to the corporate structure of the company. For example, the different departments within the company have their roles that support the mandate of the company (LOMBARDO, 2019). The advantages of this form of structure include the following: a. The structure has a transparent chain of command b. The structure has a clear path of advancement. c. The structure promotes specialization in large organizations like Walmart. The disadvantages include the following: a. The structure adapts slowly to some of the changing needs. b. There are communication barriers that affect the implementation of decisions made
