Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is exactly what you think. These three words are values used to support your team. Specifically used to promote fair treatment of all people in regard to different groups of people, from different races, genders, sexual orientations, to different religions. DEI is used to ensure that everyone is represented and treated fairly in the workplace. DEI is a hot topic in the workplace because it only works based off the leaders values. The success of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, are dependent on ethical leaders and decision makers (Swift, 2021).

The Fortune 500 company I will be analyzing is Walmart. Walmart and Sams club are the same organization. Walmart operates more than 10,500 stores and clubs under in 20 countries. As well as operating eCommerce websites. Walmart/Sams club has 2.1 million employees worldwide. Specifically, 1.6 million employees within the United States. Walmarts stakeholders include its employees, customers, investors, and the communities its in. (Location facts, n.d.)

Walmarts DEI statement is Everyone included. By fostering a workplace culture where everyone is and feels included, everyone wins. Associates are happier, perform at their best and in turn, provide better service to our customers and members (Culture, diversity, Equity & Inclusion. Corporate, n.d). Walmart has made it known that they have a mission and its to create a culture where everyone involved is treated appropriately, and they help save people money so they can live better.

Our breakdown of DEI Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion within an organization's corporate structure would be defined as the following. Diversity includes having knowledge, respect, and acceptance of individual or group cultures, races, religions, identities, colors, or creeds. Equity would provide equal opportunity for all individuals regardless of economic, social, or educational status. Inclusion provides a safe space and opportunities for all diverse cultures, races, religions, identities, colors, or creeds. Integrating DEI Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion into many organizations' corporate structures has provided different outcomes for stakeholders and their respective clients who respect and value the brand. To elaborate, Why and how to move past the DEI Business Case explains, organizational perspectives differ in the types of DEI programs that are instituted into the organization. Proper research, structures, rules, and guidelines must be adhered to prevent the perpetuation of racism, exclusion, and inequity, even if the people working within those flawed structures are supporters and advocates of these DEI Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion programs. With society and the workplace becoming more diverse, it is important to understand and respect the people we share the same mutual space. Two ethical reasons to adopt DEI Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion programs would potentially help bring awareness and a better understanding of cultural beliefs and norms. In addition, it would potentially improve team chemistry and cohesiveness in job performance. Organizations that provide a safe space working environment do give inclusion to individuals and groups and are highly recognized and supported by their consumers.
