Bl. Tarzan has mass 80 kg and Jane has mass 70 kg. Tarzan is standing on a smooth, ice- covered slope at an angle of 30 above the horizontal. He is holding the end of a light inextensible vine, which runs up the slope and then passes over a smooth cliff edge. Jane is suspended below the cliff edge. holding on to the other end of the vine. as shown in the diagram below. (a) L' Calculate the tension in the vine and the acceleration of Tarzan up the slope. (my Tarzan slides H m up the slope on the ice. starting from rest. where H is the number given in the Excel Spreadsheet. Calculate Tarzan's Speed at the end of this slide. ((2) 'After sliding H m on the smooth ice, Tarzan hits a rough patch of ground with coefficient of friction p. = 2, at a distance 5m from the cliff edge as measured up the slepe. Both Tarzan and Jane keep hold of the vine. Calculate the frictional force and Tarzan's deceleration. Hence determine whether he manages to stop before the edge of the cliff
