I want to perform Hypothesis testing using one of the tests below:
Independent two-sample t-test Dependent (paired) two-sample t-test
Chi-square goodness of fit test
Chi-square test of association
This is the data set https://www.kaggle.com/mathchi/diabetes-data-set I have chosen.
Could you assist to check whether the test which I have chosen, null hypothesis and alternative hypothesis are correct?
Kindly correct me / drop me some suggestions for other related problem statement, null and alternative hypothesis too! If you have any other ideas :) Thanks!
Independent two-sample t-test (compare people who have diabetes vs people who don't have diabetes)
Problem statement: Do people who have diabetes have different mean BMI?
u1 - Mean BMI of people with NO diabetes
u2 - Mean BMI of people with diabetes
H_0: u1 = u2
H_A: u1 != u2
Chi-square test of association
Problem statement: Is there an association between "Pregnancies" (number of times being pregnant) and Diabetes?
H_0: There is no association in the population between number of times being pregnant and diabetes (*here I'm not sure whether I should write "in the population", since I'm dealing with a sample data set?)
H_A: There is an association in the population between number of times being pregnant and diabetes
