On the same day= Liarina. posted a letter to Betty= indicating her desire to buy the car as advertised and she more that she would, in person, pay Betty 20,000 cash on Friday. Marina had previously seen Betty's car and was very impressed with it. However; her letter got lost in the post and never arrived at Betty's address. 011 Thursday, Henry went over to Betty's house and inspected the car. Henry was happy with the state and condition of the car and enquired whether it would be possible to pay on Friday afternoon as he needed time to acquire the money. Betty agreed to this. On Friday morning, Marina turned up at Betty's house with the 2 0,000 cash but Betty refused to sell the car to her as she thought that Henry was going to buy it. As soon as hularina had left Betty's house, Henry rang Betty indicating that he no longer wished to purchase the car because his partner was opposed to the idea. Betty telephoned Marina to offer the car to her again, but there was a voice-mail reply saying she had gone overseas to visit her mother for two months. Desperate for a buyer, Betty rang Terry and offered to sell her car to him for 1?,500, payable either in cash or cheque. Terry immediately agreed to this and went to Betty's property with the cash.
