I work in a clinic. Therefore, scheduling has become a large part of my duties. At times it is a struggle to figure out how many people and which people will be best suited for each shift with the various types of tasks. Linear programming is used to help managers solve problems and make the best decision possible (Anderson et.al,2016). I actually have enjoyed learning the linear programming techniques for staffing and I do think that this would be beneficial to helping me schedule nurses and medical assistants with constraints such as number of patients, schedule utilization, and the time it takes for the tasks attached to each clinic. For example, our burn clinic consists of large dressing changes and can take more time and manpower. However, after a year-long analysis at least 25% of these patients no show their appointments. This makes it difficult to schedule the right number of staff. Linear programming can be used to maximize efficiency with staffing. We can also use linear programming to apply blending to the services and resources that we provide to patients that can best optimize their care and our financial health by maximizing profit
