Include photographs to substantiate your answer. 3 a) Observe the radar picture at various occasions such as entering port, leaving port and coasting. Describe the false echoes seen on the screen. b) Describe the circumstances under which each of the false echoes was seen. 4 a) In clear weather and in open waters, construct a Relative Motion North-up plot of a crossing vessel. Find the CPA, TCPA, target's true course and speed. Sketch on a radar plotting sheet and indicate the observations made in writing. b) Under similar conditions demonstrate using the above radar plot the effect of alteration of course on the relative track of the plot. You need to sketch the change of course and demonstrate change of relative track on a plotting sheet and attach the same. 5. Own vessel steering 217 (T) at 12.0 knots. The following observations were taken of a target on the radar screen; 0020 hrs 214 (T) x 11.7 nm 0026 hrs 218 (T) x 10.8 nm 0032 hrs 223 (T) x 09.9nm Plot and compile a full report of the the Target at 0032 Note: i) Obtain the permission of the Officer of the Watch before using the radar. ii) Send the plotting sheet together with your assignment for grading.
