The stairway was dark, so he turned on his flashlight and started up, but about halfway, Steve stepped on a bucket and fell down to the bottom of the stairs, breaking his hip. Then he decided to wait for the elevator. When he got off at the second floor, Dennis jumped out and hit Steve on the head with a fire extinguisher, knocking him out for another hour. When Steve woke up, his phone was gone, but at least he still had his watch. He finally made it to his room, locked his watch in the in-room safe, and passed out. There was a copy of NRS Chapter 651.010 taped to the back of the room door, but Steve did not see it. While Steve was sleeping, the mirror suddenly fell off the ceiling and landed on Steve, breaking five ribs. Then he noticed the safe was open and his watch was gone. In the security office, Barney the security officer said, "A housekeeper turned in a phone she found in the elevator last night, but someone already claimed it. I can give you up to $750 for the watch if you have a receipt for it." He didn't, but the watch was worth $50,000. Before leaving the Stanley Hotel, Steve went to the restroom near the lobby. Before he got back to Utah, Steve stopped at Uncle Woody's Bar in Nevada and had a couple of drinks. When he ordered one more shot, Lloyd the bartender said, "You don't look like you should have any more," but Steve said, "I only have to go a few miles," so Lloyd poured him a double. After he drank that, Steve got back on the highway, but before he got to the state line, he fell asleep and crashed into another car, which was driven by Forest. Both Steve and Forest suffered a broken collar bone in the accident. Steve eventually made it to Utah and stopped at Captain Tony's Grill for lunch. He ordered a root beer and a chicken salad sandwich. When it came, he bit into the sandwich and broke his tooth on something hard inside it. When he was finished eating, he decided to go to the hospital. While he was there, he became violently ill because the chicken was undercooked and contaminated with salmonella, probably because of all the health code violations. Before recovering from all his injuries, Steve sued the Stanley Hotel, Uncle Woody's, and Captain Tony's for everything his lawyer Todd could think of.
