If we were to look at our society today, would we feel comfortable labeling it "the good society\"? For many, living in today' s society is much easier than it was in the past. For example, people today are far more accepting and tolerant of African Americans and homosexuals than they were 50 years ago, and one can imagine how much more preferable today' s society would be for those people as compared to before. But in other aspects, we haven't progressed at all. It would make sense that because we have become so much more accepting of these people and their differences that we would extend that acceptance to other different people as well; once we accept people for who they are and learn not to hate them or fear them for their differences, that lesson should apply to all peoples.
